Seed Art Studio is the product of an idea I've held in my heart for quite some time. The combination of art + children has been a source of joy and inspiration throughout my career— being immersed in the creative process alongside children is what I'm truly passionate about.
I have over 25 years experience working in art studios, community centers and kindergartens in three continents with both native English-speaking and second language learners.
In addition to my Bachelor’s of Sciences degree from the University of California, I acquired my TEFL (Teaching English as a Foreign Language) certificate from beautiful Vancouver, Canada, and furthered my EFL studies in the British Council of Singapore.
Growing up in the culturally-rich San Francisco Bay Area in California and raised in a bilingual background, interacting with many cultures was the norm!
Now with my home base in Finland, I'm eager to help infuse art, language and multicultural appreciation to children in my local community and beyond. -Rushan

Our philosophy
Young children are naturally curious and eager to learn, and are accepting and open to new and different ideas. We believe that children learn best by doing! When provided nurturing opportunities and quality materials to express themselves as well as explore their own innate creativity, they can blossom. Our mission Seed Art Studio’s mission is to encourage the growth of creative, confident and open-minded individuals. We create friendly and welcoming atmospheres where children can learn by doing, using quality art materials and by offering English immersion learning environments. We hold space for children aged three and up to express themselves as well as explore their own innate creativity. In doing this, we empower children to see themselves as capable, unique and an important part of the community. |
Our vision
We believe that the combination of art and language learning is a powerful tool for positive childhood development. Our vision is to cultivate a lifelong love of learning, passion for creativity and sense of wonder by offering children authentic, nurturing and engaging art and language experiences from an early age. We aspire to create a sense of community, bringing together like-minded folks to blend imagination, cultures and languages in a creative environment. We hope that our studio is a space where seeds of big ideas, wild dreams and little makers can gather and grow together. Our values Open-mindedness, kindness and good vibes are what we're all about. Art + English immersion under one roof
Seed Art Studio offers a very unique combination of art and English as a second language in our cozy & vibrant studio space. We firmly believe in learning by doing, and offer the children in our community meaningful art and language experiences they can relate to and will love!
Our program nurtures children and provides them with the building blocks needed for a lifetime of learning, while exposing them to the benefits of speaking a foreign language in a warm and supportive environment. The creative process (including having fun!) all happens with a native English speaking teacher, allowing for an organic and natural absorption of the language.
This blend of making something beautiful with one's own hands while immersed in a natural English atmosphere is something we are passionate about and think is an awesome way to, as the saying goes, hit two birds with one stone (sorry birds!).

Our unique and effective combination
We run our studio with confidence by combining subject learning (art) and language learning (English). Our space provides children plenty of opportunities to develop listening skills and to communicate naturally in the new language. By picking up vocabulary in context, they can learn how to express their own original ideas.
Our Art in English lessons allow students to leave our sessions with their handmade piece of work, a beautiful reminder of their creative skills as well as a reminder of their capacity to understand, think and create in a new language. We hope to nurture this sense of accomplishment, which can act as a reward as well as motivate them to take on more challenges in our classes and beyond.
Integrating subject learning and language learning is a holistic concept which is becoming more and more common in the Finnish education system. Our English immersion classes provide your little ones with a great foundation for future English language learning in the school system, and beautifully compliments any English lessons your older children are currently taking.
And of course, native English-speaking students and kids with previous English language experiences are absolutely welcome!
